The great thing about a new year is the opportunity to feel as though you can get a fresh start. We can continue to work hard for the rest of December to reach our year-end goals as well as plan for an excellent 2024.
It’s time to reevaluate your business and your goals to get a clearer picture of what it is you are after for next year. Here are a few simple things you can do to start moving in a better direction for 2024.
Evaluate where you are making your money.
Evaluate where you are spending your time.
Now look at the two above and decide if are they related. Are you spending the bulk of your time on the very thing that is making you the most money? Or did you just realize you are spending a ton of time on something that isn’t making you any money? Maybe it’s time to shift your focus to the products and services that are your bread and butter.
Simplify! I know so many people who offer 10 products/services and only make money on two of them – maybe it’s time to focus on the two that are making you money and forget about the rest.
Who is buying your products and services? Have you sat down to figure out who you are actually selling to? Focus on those types of people. I know a business owner who spent a ton of time and money marketing to the wrong group of people. When they finally sat down to figure out who was buying their products they were shocked. As soon as they started marketing to the right people they doubled their business.
Evaluate where you are spending your money. Again, this can be a real eye-opener for someone who is not paying attention. A friend of mine was spending tons of money on Facebook ads only to realize six months later that all of her clients were coming from her free Twitter account. Make sure every dollar you spend is well worth it.
Consider – what is bringing you joy? What are you passionate about? Maximize your efforts in these areas.
Consider – what is causing you stress? What are you overwhelmed by or hate doing? Think about whether or not you still need this for your business to be successful and if so, consider outsourcing it. Or if it’s something that you no longer need to do then get rid of it. Sometimes we have the best intentions and things don’t work out and it’s okay to let it go.
Make a plan! Now that you’ve had some time to evaluate your business, where you are making money, where you are spending your time and money, and what brings you joy? Then create a plan for 2024.
Enjoy the holidays and the time with friends and family! You can have all the money, success, and material items in the world but at the end of the day is it really worth anything without your family or friends to share it with? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
